LHS GIRLS AND BOYS CREW – FALL 2005
Head Coach: Jennifer Campbell
Athletes: 82
Highlights
This past fall was the most successful season for LHS crew in the history of the team. Beginning with the Textile River Regatta, LHS entered 10 boats, with a total of 77 varsity and novice athletes competing. For the second year in a row the girls 1st varsity eight placed 4th out of 24 crews from across New England. The Boys’ 1st Varsity eight, despite the team’s loss of 19 graduating seniors over the past two years, still placed a respectable 12th out of 20 crews. Overall the race was very successful, and LHS had 40 more athletes competing as compared to last year’s Textile River Regatta.
The last race of the season, Massachusetts State Championships, was the most successful regatta of the fall for the Lowell Crew! The team placed 4th overall out of 12 teams, the highest ranking ever for LHS at the Fall State Champs. We brought 73 athletes to the competition, and five of the nine LHS boats placed in the top 5! The girls’ eight won a silver medal, missing a gold by just one second. The boys’ novice four also won a silver medal, while the girls’ 1st varsity eight won a bronze. The girls’ varsity four placed 4th, narrowly missing a bronze medal, and the boys varsity eight placed 5th out of 12 crews.
